Attachment focused mentoring has never been more crucial
Over a third of girls in the UK suffer with depression and anxiety
7 in 10 girls believe they are not good enough or do not measure up in some way
1 in 3 adult mental health conditions relate directly to adverse childhood experiences
The symptoms of trauma can disrupt a girl's education and are mentally and physically damaging. If we don't intervene, what will happen to these girls?
The Cherished Course
An 8-week course with focused, small group work. Adapted for Primary and Secondary school girls around the topics of:
Protecting Your Heart
Hopes and Dreams
I love witnessing girls discover their strengths and grow into their true identity.
– Krista (Cherished Mentor)
I love the enthusiasm of the girls sharing things with you and giving them the time to express themselves. I feel privileged to be around such an inspirational group of ladies.
– Ann (Cherished Mentor)
The one thing which I feel Cherished has helped me with the most is to know that it doesn’t matter how big your dreams are, as long as you want them enough there is always a way for them to become reality.
– Becky, 17
The girls involved in Cherished are more confident in the classroom and with their peers. We have noticed academically the girls have improved. We would recommend the Cherished course to schools.
– Year 6 Teacher
12 weeks of bespoke mentoring with one of our highly trained creative mentors
ATTACHMENT FOCUSEDOur 1:1 mentoring sessions provide dedicated time and space for girls to form positive attachment and feel safe, seen, soothed and secure. Each of our highly trained, volunteer mentors is equipped with resources to creatively meet the unique needs of every individual girl. We aim to teach girls healthy ways to manage their emotions and develop resilience.
QUALIFIED MENTORSAll of our hand-picked, volunteer mentors are trained to an exceptionally high level. Every mentor completes a 2-day accredited training course, safeguarding, ACE and Attachment Theory training. Cherished nurtures a culture of learning, with regular opportunities for mentors to attend CPD sessions.
CREATIVE MENTORING RESOURCESAt Cherished, we support our mentors by providing them with resources to use on their mentoring journey. We hold regular Creative Workshops where mentors can come along and learn new skills, find new strategies for supporting girls, explore the resources and gain new ideas for planning their mentoring sessions. During these sessions, we explore issues that our girls struggle with and how we can best support them! It is also a time for mentors to meet with each other and share their ideas.
